600cc National Driver Rankings

Frank Galusha

2017 crowned Galusha king of the Franks! Racking up wins at the SIR High Banks Hustle, Show Me Showdown and numerous other high profile events totaling 13 wins so far for the 2017 season.

Frank Flud

There may be nobody who gets more seat time in a micro each season than Frank Flud usually running 2 or 3 classes in multiple cars each night. This year he saw  a few big wins slip away in the final laps. Wins include Outlaw Class Pete Frazier Memorial, A-class at the show Me ShowdownIt's hard telling how many races he's won in 2017 but the number is large and he's probably adding to it right now..

Craig Ronk

Craig Ronk could be found often battling between the Franks at big shows in 2017, notably trading the lead with Flud at the Hustle before a last lap incident saw victory escape them both. 2017 saw multiple POWRi wins. Craig is continually fast leading the way in a non traditional style mid rail chassis build but CS9 Chassis.

The Micro/Mini sprint classes are some of the fastest growing racing classes in the country. Often confused, "Micro" sprints refer to the 600cc side engine mounted chassis while Mini Sprints refer to the 1000cc Upright, central engine chassis design, similar to a traditional midget.

Micro engines consist of late model 600cc motors pulled from crashed super bikes. the most popular for may years was the Yamaha R6 however Suzuki GSX-R power plants are challenging the R6 in the midwest. Pennsylvania is the land of the Kawasaki 636. Honda motors can be competitive as well but are less common.

Afco Suspension

Torsions bars are always found on the rear of any of these chassis however the front suspension can either utilize torsion bars as well or a coil over shock set up. Both are competitive and preference comes down to driver feel and sometimes track layout. Possibly the most misunderstood aspect of your race car, suspension is one of the key variables to racing success. The companies listed above have the goods and knowledge to get your set-up on point.

Brakes
MCP Brakes
AFCO Brakes
Willwood Disk Brakes

Both Micros and Minis use a  single rear disk and caliper mounted on a solid splined rear axle. Some cars also use a left front brake with a proportioning valve to fine tune brake bias. LF Brake usually is a driver preference as many top drivers can be found with and without it

Wheels
Aero Race Wheels
Weld Racing Wheels
Vahlco Wheels
Keizer Wheels

Micros utilize a 10'' diameter wheel/tire combo while Mini Sprints run the larger 13'' Midget sized wheels.

Wings
Outlaw Wings
Aero Wings
Lightning Wings

Perhaps one of the most confusing identifying parts of open wheel cars. Micro sprints have divisions that run both with and without the wing as well as wing size options. Upright Mini sprints always run with a wing.

Steering

RacinRack-Logo-Color

Micro sprints are designed with a steering shaft running through the center of the chassis to an axle mounted rack & pinion while mini sprints use a traditional hydraulic or manual chassis mounted steering gear box with a pitman arm running a drag link to the front spindle. Electronic power steering units are becoming common additions to micros mounted behind the steering wheel.
